Love Me Through the Rain Read online

  Rain nodded her head.

“It fits you.” He winked. “Drinks on me tonight Ms. Goddess. Get whatever you want baby and she’ll handle it for you.” He grabbed his drinks from the bar and walked away. He had only taken about three steps when he turned back around walked up to her. He was so close to Rain that the front of his body was touching the front of hers. She was shorter than him at 5’7” so he had to lean down to whisper in her ear. “Don’t leave without giving me your number.” He kissed the side of her neck and she jumped back.

“Boy don’t be putting your mouth on me.”

He smiled. “Before it’s all over with, you’ll be begging me to put my mouth on you.” He winked and walked away again. This time he swaggered through the crowd and back to his table.

Rain’s eyes followed him to the VIP section in the corner. Rain watched him for a few more minutes before turning back around to order her drinks. Once she’d placed her order she went back to her table. Summer and Alex were acting a fool. They had money all over the floor and were still throwing it at the girls dancing in front of them. Rain couldn’t even front, the girl was getting it, but once again, she didn’t know what she was supposed to do. Watch or not?

“Here best friend, make it rain.” Alex tried to hand her the money he had in his hand.

  “Nah boo, you got it.”

“Boring ho.” Alex turned back around and started back throwing money.

Summer’s ratchet ass was bent over dancing right along with the strippers. Her big ass was bouncing just as hard as theirs were. If she hadn’t been fully dressed you probably would have mistaken her for working there. The dark blue jean shorts she wore were cuffed right below her butt, exposing her thick thighs. The thin white shirt she was wearing hugged her breasts and flat stomach as she danced. She’d gone to the salon this morning so her hair was fresh and flowing around her shoulders. Summer was older than Rain by two years, making her twenty six. She had dark skin like their father, small round eyes, and pretty lips. She was bad as fuck hands down. Her dress game was tight and her body was stacked. Niggas fell in love with Summer on the regular, and her conceited ass ate it up. Summer turned around and started popping her booty on Rain’s lap. She danced seductively to the song as Rain laughed and pushed her lightly.

“Summer, go ‘head on and stop playing girl.”

“Girl you know how many niggas wish they was you right now? You better stop playing and get up on this ass.”

Rain couldn’t even hold it in any longer. She burst out laughing and slapped Summer hard across her butt. Summer only laughed and kept dancing. Rain had just grabbed some of Summer’s ones from the table to throw on her when the waitress came over and handed her the drinks she’d ordered and a stack of ones.

  “This is from Love.”

Rain’s face was scrunched up in confusion. “Who?”

“Him.” The waitress turned around and pointed at the booth she’d saw Sexy Chocolate go into earlier. He was standing up watching one of the girls dance in front of him. He was so focused on her ass he didn’t even see her watching him. She thought if she stared at him long enough he would look up, but he never did. His gaze was locked on the pretty girl in front of him. Rain didn’t like the fact that she felt somewhat jealous when she didn’t even know this dude. She was about to tell the waitress to take the money back but she had walked away.

“Oh bitch, who is Love? Don’t be holding out.” Alex was all in her face.

“Just some nigga I met at the bar. He told me my drinks were on him, then he just sent all these ones over here by the waitress. I don’t know his ass.”

“Well if you don’t want him, I will gladly take him. Where he at?”

Alex looked around as Rain pointed Love out.

“If I wasn’t already gay that nigga would have turned my ass out. He so got damn fine.”

“I swear you ain’t got no sense. I’m finna take him his money back.”

Alex reached at the neatly stacked ones in her hand. “No you ain’t either. If you don’t want to throw it you better stick that shit in your purse.”

“Alex, everybody ain’t trying to be a trick like you. I’m finna give it back. Plus I want to take his attention off of that li’l girl dancing all over him.”

Alex and Rain smiled at each other at the same time.

“Tell Summer where I went,” Rain said over her shoulder. Summer had walked her happy ass over to the stage to throw some more money. Clearly she and Alex were having a ball.

Rain strutted through the club in her multicolored pumps and skin-tight ripped jeans. Her thighs and one of her knees was exposed. The red one-piece shirt she had on came up high enough on the sides to expose the skin on the side of her stomach and her hips. Her honey blonde and brown hair was flat ironed straight down with a part in the middle and touching her back. She wore a simple gold chain and watch. She caught a few men staring at her as she proceeded through the club but she was on a mission. Being 5’7”, brown-skinned, with small doe-shaped eyes, cute lips, and a petite body, she got stares all the time. Growing up she thought being slim was the worst thing in life, now she embraced it. Her small hips and ass protruded just enough to compliment her bow-shaped legs. Her flat stomach and full C-cup breasts topped it all off well. Not to mention her long shapely legs. They were definitely another story for another day, men loved her skinny ass. Rain looked around nervously. When she first left her table she was amped about giving the man the waitress called Love his money back but now she wasn’t so sure. The closer she got the more flips her stomach did. At first she’d been driven by the girl with her ass in his lap, but the more she thought about it the crazier she felt. She didn’t know this damn man. He probably gave out money all the time. She thought about turning back around but changed her mind. She’d come too far now. Once she was in front of his booth she stood still for a moment hoping he’d notice her, but once again he hadn’t. His eyes were glued to the same ho’s ass. Rain sucked her teeth and walked over to him. Before she could open her mouth he looked up at her. He smiled when he realized it was her standing in front of him. He let his eyes roam freely over her body the same way he’d done at the bar before zoning in on the money in her hand.

“You don’t want my money?” His deep voice was an orgasm waiting to happen.

“Nah, I got my own cash. You keep this for yourself. Thank you though.” Rain sat the money on his lap. Her hand barely missing the girl’s butt. She pulled it away immediately.

He smirked before taking the money and pulling the band off of it.

“Sit here with me for a minute.”

“I’m good. I just came to give you your money back.”

“Shid, you already over here. You might as well throw my girl Unique some money before you go.” He pulled her hand until she was sitting down next to him and handed her the money. “Unique, pop that pussy ma.”

Rain gave him the side eye when he rubbed his big hand all over Unique’s butt. Rain didn’t like that shit. Unique got up from his lap and started to dance in front of both of them. There was that awkward feeling again. Look or not to look.

“You scared or something baby doll?”

  Rain shook her head.

“You look like you ‘bout to run up out the joint.” He took a few bills out of the stack and rubbed them across Unique’s bouncing booty before letting them drop to the floor around her feet. “Throw the money baby.”

Baby? Oh I’ll be your baby alright. Rain looked from the stripper back to him and shook her head. He startled her when he picked her up and sat her on his lap. He did it with so much ease, like it was easy or something. She knew she wasn’t the heaviest but she didn’t think she was that light. He wrapped his arms around her waist and grabbed both of her wrists in his hands. When the track changed he used her arms to throw the money on Unique. Rain felt like a fool, but she was having so much fun.

“See, it ain’t that hard,” he said into her ear.

  Rain didn
t agree with him, too afraid he might move her from his lap and make her throw it on her own again. She sat on his lap pretending to be afraid. After a few more songs, and a few more strippers, Rain felt comfortable enough to move. She grabbed his Remy from the table and took it straight from the bottle.

“Hit that shit baby.” His words slurred. He was drunk as shit. He had been drinking since she’d gotten over there, not to mention whatever he’d had before then.

“You might want to slow down li’l mama,” his light-skinned friend said.

“I got it.” Rain pulled her arm out of his grasp.

“Alright then shawty, have it.” He smiled and handed her some more money.

Rain was in a zone as she and Love threw money at all of the girls in his section. He had stood up and wrapped one arm around her shoulder as they rapped along with the Lucci track that was playing. Rain loved Lucci. He was one of the only rappers she listened to besides Wale, 2pac, and J Cole. Love and Rain were dancing, rapping, and throwing money together like they’d known each other forever. She had to admit she was actually having a good time.

“Umm little drunky drunk, are you ready to go?” Summer’s voice pulled her from her partying.

“Big sisterrrrr, heyyyyy baby. Look, I’m throwing money.” Rain was definitely drunk. She was starting to drag her words out.

“Oh hell no. Summer get her drunk ass so we can go,” Alex said.

Love looked at Summer when she grabbed Rain’s arm. “Aye, she good. Just let her chill. I ain’t gon’ let nun happen to her.”

Summer and Alex both looked at him as he tried to pull Rain’s arm free of Summer’s grasp. Summer looked him up and down before taking his hand off of hers. “I appreciate that and all, but she don’t know you and neither do I so I’ma take her with me if you don’t mind.”

Rain looked at Summer and knew she wasn’t playing. She always got in big sister mode when they were together. She felt the need to protect Rain at all times. Rain didn’t even try to fight it. She just looked at Love with her bottom lip stuck out.

“I’m sorry Love, I have to go. My mean big sister thinks she’s my mama.”

“But it’s my birthday. You gon’ leave me on my birthday?”

Rain looked at him, then at the annoyed looking strippers, then back to Summer. “Summerrrrr, I can’t leave him. It’s his birthday.”

“Bitch, you better bring your ass on. Don’t nobody care about it being his damn birthday. Tell his ass happy birthday so we can go.” Alex crossed his arms over his chest. Rain narrowed her eyes at him and licked her tongue.

“They’re being mean Love. I have to go.” Rain waved at him. “Byyyyyeeee. Happy Birthday beautiful. I love you.”

“Oh my damn God. Summer get this bitch. She showing her got damn ass right now.” Alex covered his face and shook his head.

“I love you too baby doll. Go with your peoples.” Love smiled at her before pulling her to him and kissing her lips. He placed three small pecks on them before kissing her neck.

Summer pulled Rain’s arm as they exited the booth. It was time for them to go.

  Chapter 2: Misunderstood Impressions

Rain walked through her front door and immediately began to strip. This was one of the things that she loved about living alone. She could be as free as she wanted to be. She’d recently leased a three-bedroom townhouse in Sonoma Point and she was loving it. It was spacious without being too big, and gave her enough room to do everything she needed to. It was Sunday evening and she’d just come from her evening workout at Lake Bottom. Rain made it her business to keep her body in shape. She was on the skinnier side and always had been. Up until recently she hadn’t care about her size, but now she was starting to feel like she was too old to be as skinny as she was. It was Summer’s idea for her to join the gym. That was the best idea she could have ever given her. Her trainer, Katrina Butler-Hill, had her putting on pounds in all the right places. Her legs and butt were toning and poking out, while the muscles in her arms and back were looking more defined. She couldn’t thank Trina and KBH fitness enough for her new found confidence. Rain was in nothing but her sports bra and panties when she heard somebody knocking on her door. She was almost positive it was either Alex or Summer. When she walked back to the living room and looked out her peephole she saw them both. In nothing but her undergarments she opened the door and stood to the side for them to come in. Alex walked in first with Summer right behind them.

“Eww why you ain’t got no clothes on?” Alex sat down on her sofa.

Summer plopped down next to Alex. “I’m telling you. It’s the middle of the day and you in here naked? I would ask if you had a man over here but I already know that ain’t the case.”

“Now sis you know she scared of dick.” Alex slapped high-fives with Summer

“Nah…nah…nah Alex, from the looks of things at Magic last night she scared of pussy too.” Summer held her stomach as she laughed.

She and Alex was laughing so hard they were falling all over each other. Rain stared at them with her arms crossed. She didn’t find anything funny but clearly they did. Alex’s dramatic ass had the nerve to holler like the shit was so funny. Summer was leaned so far over she was practically in Alex’s lap laughing.

“Both of y’all can shut up. Y’all make me sick always trying to be so funny. I ain’t scared of nothing. Y’all two bitches just mad I have morals. I don’t hop on the first nigga or bitch I see unlike y’all. And furthermore I just got home from the gym and was about to take a shower until I heard y’all knocking on the door.”

Alex threw his long weave over his shoulder and sat up on the sofa as he wiped the tears from his eyes. “First of all you can pipe down Ms. Love in the Club. We just came over here to check on your alcoholic ass.”

Rain looked down at the floor and tried to hide her smile as Love’s handsome face popped in her head. When she looked back up Alex was still looking at her. He was the cutest thing. He couldn’t have been any prettier if he were a woman for real. He was brown-skinned like her, with light brown eyes, high cheek bones, and the prettiest eyebrows and lips she’d ever seen on a man. Alex wasn’t your average gay man. He was small framed like a woman and he wasn’t the tallest, which definitely worked in his favor. He was around the same height as she and Summer. He had his usual twenty-six-inch Brazilian sew-in done, flat ironed straight down. And talking about beat? Alex’s face was beat for the gods. Not one ounce of makeup was out of place. His nails were done and today he wore a simple pair of jeans and a white V-neck shirt with sneakers. Alex pointed at her and wagged his finger at her.

“Don’t act shy now ho. You wasn’t acting shy when you was sitting all on that boy lap, screaming you love his ass and shit.”

Alarm spread across her face. “Oh my God! No I didn’t. Please tell me I didn’t do that.”

“Nope we ain’t finna tell you shit because you did. You called him beautiful and everything. I mean he was a pretty ass nigga, but Rain you was shot out last night.” Alex was smiling like he enjoyed rubbing in her embarrassment.

“Did you remember it was your own birthday last night too? Or was you too caught up with Love in the Club?” Summer asked.

Rain walked over and joined them on the sofa. She wiggled her hips until they scooted apart and made room for her between them. “I’m so embarrassed.”

“Don’t be boo. You don’t even know the nigga. You may not ever see him again. I mean we were in Atlanta. Plus his ass was just as drunk as you. He said he loved you too.”

Rain’s face flushed red as she blushed. Why just the thought of Love had butterflies floating around her stomach, she didn’t know, but it felt good. She was so drunk she hadn’t remembered much of anything other than spending time with him. “I bet he sounded cute when he said it too, didn’t he?”

Summer fell backwards against the sofa. “Did he? Girl I halfway wished his fine ass was talking to me when he said the shit.”

  They all laughed again as
Rain pinched Summer’s stomach.

  “What y’all doing tonight?”

“Nothing, you wanna go get something to eat?”

Rain looked at Alex and shrugged her shoulders. “You don’t feel like cooking?”

He shook his head and slid to the edge of the sofa. “Nope. Not today. Let’s just go get something. I want some wings or something. Let’s go to Buffalo Wild Wings in the strip mall.”

  “I’m with it,” Summer said.

“Well let me take my shower and throw something on.” Rain walked down the hall and hopped up her stairs.

She was in and out of the shower in ten minutes. Water was still dripping down her body as she stood in her closet wrapped in her towel. She pushed through the thousand pairs of jeans she had hanging up and pulled at the dark blue distressed ones. She grabbed a white top and her low top Converses. It only took her a few minutes to throw her clothes on. She’d unwrapped her hair, put her jewelry on, and grabbed her large bag from the dresser. When she got back downstairs she, Alex, and Summer all exited her house. Summer decided to drive. When they got inside it was way too packed so they had to wait. Their thirty minute wait went by rather fast as they sat outside laughing and talking. When the hostess called them they headed inside with Summer leading the way. They chose to sit in the back by the bar. It was a little less crowded and they had a better view of the TV. They placed their drink orders and looked over the menu. Rain looked around the room while she waited for the waiter to come back. While looking around she noticed a table of women looking at Alex. There were three of them and they had the nerve to be pointing and shit. This got Rain hot instantly. She hated when people made a big deal out of Alex. He was her baby she didn’t play about him.

“See this is the kind of stuff that pisses me off.”

Summer and Alex looked up at her. Summer, the aggressive one, commented first. “What’s going on?”

“Those ugly ass women at that table keep looking over here at Alex.” Had Rain been thinking she would have just kept it to herself.

Summer, always ready to turn up, looked in their direction and started her shit. “Fuck is y’all looking at?”
